Revered in his home country, Russian contemporary choreographer Boris Eifman makes his debut at the New National Theatre, Tokyo
This will be the first production by a Japanese ballet company of Eifman's Anna Karenina. Eifman is artistic director of the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre, and one of the foremost choreographers in Russia today.
Eifman's ballets have gained the attention of ballet circles the world over, and are also praised in dramatic circles. There is said to be a literary aspect to his work. In the NNTT's mid-size Playhouse theatre, the audience will be able to see clearly every subtle movement and facial expression of the dancers, making it the ideal venue for this powerful work.
