The Summit 4th Dreamz Dance Competition began with Round 1 on 21 March 2009 at Ipoh and ended with the final round of the competition on 3 May 2009 at Summit Subang USJ Main Concourse.

“The primary aims of holding the competition are to create a healthy and creative activity for the youths, apart from promoting the hip hop dance as well as scouting for new talents. Many of the youths today are looking for avenues to express their inner talents and abilities and this is one way that we know can help explore their desires. We are most certainly proud to give them this platform,” said Ms Wivien San from The Summit Subang USJ, A&P Manager.

The Summit 4th Dreamz Dance Competition was opened to all age groups with an estimated entry crowd of 500 contestants from all over the nation. This competition had been going around the nation including East Coast of Malaysia and saw a total of over 50 teams of approximately over 100 dancers showcasing their sleek skills and creative dance moves on the dance floor. It was nothing short of excitement and heart pumping action as all the teams from all around the nation vied for the Semi Final and Grand Final of The Summit 4th Dreamz Dance Competition. This year, the competition has attracted many new and younger boys and girls participants from all over the nation. Finally after rounds of intense battles throughout the three months, 17 groups of finalists were selected for the final.
They are Project Element, Street Wreckers, Max Identity, Mustang Crew, MJ Puzzle, Floor Fever, Tip Top Crew, Naughty Princess, Hot Flow, Unpredictable Gen, Top Secret, Non Stop, FB Team, Dreamz, D’I Crew, Dvol Ux Crew, and Virus – X.
Each participating team had present two dance items for the competition; the first with music chosen by the group, and the second with music chosen by the judges. All the groups had to showcase their dance routines to the music for at least 2 minutes but not more than 4 minutes, incorporating the look, music, attitude, posture and street style to make it truly and uniquely hip hop. The judging was based on the showmanship, skill execution, formation, difficulty, creativity, moves, styles, musicality and many other angles to decide the champion team for the competition.
The winners of the Finals walked away with attractive cash prizes in total of RM 12,000 and goodies for the competition. The first prize (RM6,500 and goodies) was won by Street Wreckers; the second prize (RM 3,000 and goodies) was won by Project Element; and the third prize (RM 1,500 and goodies) was won by Tip Top Crew. All prizes were sponsored by Marigold Peel Fresh, Figurline and E touch.
“We are confident of attracting the participants as well as the crowd from all over the place as there is a strong interest group and following in this trendy dance category. This year is the 1st year that The Summit extends the dance challenge to other states such as Ipoh and Kuantan to search for new talent.”
