Five years, and 12 Cameronian Arts Awards later, ASWARA?s Dance Department is still respected for their ingenuity and cross-cultural explorations. This time around, they will present new choreography by Umesh Shetty, Zhou Gui Xin, Wong Kit Yaw, Steve Goh, Suhaili Ahmad Kamil, Aris Kadir, Tan Lian Ho and Joseph Gonzales in the much awaited annual contemporary dance performance series -JAMU.
This year, Jamu will showcase a guest performance entitled 'Intoxicating Eyes', collaboration between well known composer and vocalist from India, Anil Srinivasan (piano), Sikkil Gurucharan (vocals) and the Sutra Dance Theatre. The collaboration will be accompanied with dance improvisations by Sutra?s Ramli Ibrahim, Guna and January Low, with Yunus Ismail, Liza Saad, Baizura Ghani and Faillul Adam from ASWARA.This special one night only performance will include a dance solo by January Low; 'Asimugam', and an improvisation piece 'Theruvil Varano', performed by dancers and musicians.
