Work-shoes were kicked off and stilettos were put on as the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur played host for the first time to the Malaysian World Salsa Congress in Sunway Lagoon.

 

The event was proudly organized by Salsa Havana Sdn Bhd. This was the third year the event was held and it had seen consistent success and growth. This year’s Congress was themed “Latin Extravaganza” and it was set to thrill and excite audiences and Latin music fans.

Salsa is recognized worldwide as a dance that requires enthusiasts to have stamina and to be physically fit. It is an active and fast dance that improves not only physical fitness but mental fitness.

 

More than thirty world class artists from Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Europe, Australia, Singapore, Spain and Malaysia came together to offer participants new, challenging, and amazing dance techniques, new styles of Salsa and Latin dancing and a higher level of knowledge in music.

 

This year, their first time in Asia, Imagen Latina, one of the most famous Salsa dance teams in Latin America and Europe performed unique and new dance routines. Imagen Latina is from Venezuela and they have participated in numerous Competitions and Salsa Congresses in Europe, Latin America and the United States where they have performed to standing ovations because of their unique style and amazing choreography.

One of the most amazing dance teams in last year’s Salsa Congress returned again with new choreographies and even more amazing new salsa moves that thrilled participants. Salsa Y Punto from Venezuela, an amazing dance group, is well-known around the world for their tight dance choreography, amazing dance acrobatics and smooth Latin style. They perform to standing ovations for every performance all over the world.

 

From Colombia, hails Sabor Colombiano, making their first appearance in Asia. Sabor Colombiano performed with the youngest professional salsa dancer in the world, Martina, a ten-year old who has been dancing professionally for two years.

 

The famous Latin band TNT made up of musicians from Colombia and Cuba spiced up the party nights. The band leader Hugo Salcedo from Cartagena Colombia and his TNT band have played to packed audiences all over Australia, America, Latin America and Europe. They are well-known for their great music and their versatility. Their infectious Latin beats kept people dancing all night long.

 

For Malaysians it was the most exciting and amazing Latin dance party.  The Congress is a great opportunity for people around the world to experience Malaysian hospitality. More than a party, the aim is to make Malaysia the best tourist destination in Asia.
